We are seeking a skilled and creative Web Developer to lead the development of a digital platform for the Women Storytellers Program. The platform will showcase profiles of program participants, provide valuable resources, and serve as a directory to connect women storytellers with potential job opportunities. As the Web Developer, you will play a crucial role in creating an intuitive and visually appealing platform that promotes the achievements and voices of African women storytellers.

Objective:

The Website Designer and Developer will be responsible for creating, designing, and developing a website that effectively represents the African Women Storytellers Program online. The website should be visually appealing, easy to navigate, and informative, providing a hub for program information, events, news, and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Create a website design that aligns with the program’s branding and aesthetic.

  • Develop the website with user-friendly navigation and responsive design for various devices.

  • Implement features such as event calendars, news sections, photo galleries, and contact forms.

Content Integration:

  • Work with the program team to integrate content into the website, including text, images, and multimedia.

  • Ensure the website structure supports easy content updating and management

Testing and Launching:

  • Conduct thorough testing of the website, ensuring compatibility across browsers and devices.

  • Address any technical issues and optimize website performance.

  • Coordinate the website launch, ensuring a smooth rollout.

Maintenance and Updates:

  • Provide initial maintenance and updates during the early stages of post-launch.

  • Offer training to the program team on basic website management.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with the Digital Marketing Lead and the program team for content alignment and digital strategy.

  • Stay updated with the latest web development trends and technologies, recommending enhancements to the platform to improve performance and functionality.

  • Implement measures to enhance the platform's security and protect user data and privacy.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Web Developer with a strong portfolio of previous web projects.

- Familiarity with responsive design principles and mobile optimization techniques.

- Solid understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles to create an intuitive and visually appealing platform.

- Knowledge of web security best practices and measures to safeguard user data and privacy.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Passion for women's empowerment and a commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the creative industry.
